Mr. Robinson was awarded an academic scholarship to the USA where he completed a bachelor’s degree. He then moved to the UK where he studied medicine at the Imperial College School of Medicine, one of the top medical schools in the world. Here he was awarded several prizes. He then completed his Basic Surgical Training at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, UK and followed this with a registrar orthopaedic post in New Zealand. His general orthopaedic training took place in the London Northwest Thames and Welsh Deanery programs. He followed this with advanced fellowships in Trauma and Lower Limb Reconstruction at the Queen Elizabeth II Sciences Centre in Halifax, Canada, a fellowship in Major Trauma at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and a fellowship in Paediatric Orthopaedics at the Evelina Children’s Hospital, London.
In addition, Mr. Robinson has completed an MSc in Trauma Surgery (Military) from Swansea University with Merit and an MSc in Surgical Sciences and Practice from Oxford University. His dissertations dealt with the application of evidence-based practice in orthopaedics.
Mr. Robinson enjoys research and has published in peer reviewed journals and has been awarded several research prizes. He also enjoys teaching and training and has been a faculty member for trainee courses in paediatric orthopaedics, trauma and surgical skills in the UK, the USA, Canada and New Zealand. Mr. Robinson is also an Advanced Trauma Life Support Instructor and travels regularly to the Royal College of Surgeons in London to train the future instructors in the UK.
Mr. Robinson is committed to humanitarian surgery and has volunteered as a war surgeon in missions to Afghanistan and Iraq for the charity Doctors Without Borders (MSF) and for the World Health Organization (WHO). He is also a Trauma Surgeon for the British Red Cross and UK-Med and has published an international best seller textbook for the treatment of orthopaedic trauma in austere and conflict zones. Most recently, he has joined the David Nott Foundation as a member of faculty, which aims to bring surgical training to surgeons dealing with conflicts and disasters and has recently trained surgeons destined for the Middle East and Ukraine.
Mr. Robinson was selected for and completed the British Orthopaedic Association National Clinical Leadership Fellowship where he was trained and tutored by top surgeons and leaders in the UK. He has been Paediatric Orthopaedic Lead at St Mary’s Hospital in London and in Wrexham Park Hospital and was also the Trauma and Audit Research Lead (TARN).
After being recruited by NHS Grampian as and Orthopaedic and Trauma Consultant, Mr. Robinson has made Moray his home and now he aims to bring excellent orthopaedic care to the people of North East Scotland.
